Ashlyn Denham is a lifelong creative and entrepreneur based in Summerville, SC. A recent graduate from the College of Charleston, she got her BA in Theatre concentrating in Costume Design and Technology.
Her interest in performance, fashion, art and costumes started when she entered her first dance studio at 2 years old. For the next 17 years she studied ballet, jazz, lyrical and hip-hop dance. At this time she also developed an interest in making her own clothing and learned how to develop a social media presence and market her products successfully.
Her diverse background and increasing interest in textile industry. Sustainability led her to create unique, handmade bags and accessories that she sells under her own brand Denham Designs. Working with secondhand jeans, she gives new life to old clothing. A self-taught seamstress, she learned to perfect her skills and broaden her artistic vision with the support of the costume design department at the College of Charleston. She costume designed CofC Stages 2024-2025 show season closer “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee” and has served as an assistant costume designer on CofC’s Opera “Die Fledermaus", costume designed for the 2024 dance showcase “Pathways", and costume designer for “Bohemian Rapcity” in the 2023 dance showcase, “After the Rain”.
Her awards include the 2025 Department of Theatre and Dance Dr. Norton M. Seltzer Prize Award, the 2024 Department of Theatre and Dance Merit Award, and the 2024 Diva Award for Best Costumes (Pathways).
